DCNZ is a purposefully led charity committed to promoting mental health wellbeing and inclusion through counselling services. Our strategic direction focuses on aligning our vision, mission, values, purpose, and strategic goals to best serve our ethnic communities.
Tiriti o Waitangi
We acknowledge te Tiriti o Waitangi as the nation’s founding document, and Aotearoa’s first migration policy document. Therefore, te Tiriti is foundational to our relationships with the peoples of this whenua (land) and thereby to our lives in Aotearoa New Zealand. DCNZ services and programmes are designed to promote social justice and equitable care for our communities while also safeguarding the cultural identities and wellbeing of clients from diverse backgrounds. Through this, we are committed to honouring Te Tiriti by co-creating culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive mental health support that upholds the rights and dignities of all peoples living on this whenua.

Our Purpose
To promote and facilitate environments to accept the diversity of cultures, ethnicities, genders, religions and languages, though supporting people who come from different backgrounds to encourage their dignity.
To provide professional counselling services to people who have their own unique backgrounds, such as cultures, ethnicities, genders, religions, and languages, in their own language.
To provide various activities to promote better mental health conditions among people from their own unique backgrounds, for example, educational courses, workshops, group works, and individual consultations.
To promote awareness and understandings among helping professions on various issues which people from different backgrounds have, and otherwise which might not be heard, therefore might not even exist.
